Beginning Pastel Drawing/Color Theory, Ages: 12 - Adult

Starting with color theory in pastel and technique demonstrations (simple shapes, blending, gradations) we then let the students explore Beginning Pastel with a choice of an over-scaled flower (Georgie O'Keeffe style), a simple landscape or a bird/animal. Emphasis is on MIXING color, including intensity of color and value. Elements of what makes a good composition is also taught. Students will provide their own art supplies. All supplies needed for this course can be purchased at the 1st class.
Materials: 18" x 24" Newsprint pad, 1 4b drawing pencil, 1 - kneaded eraser, 1 box- 24 colors, chalk pastels, 1/2 sheet Cason (brand name) pastel paper. approx. cost: $30.
