In this beginning drawing course, we teach proper pencil handling, drawing the basic shapes, in line, from a still life and then pencil drawing and charcoal drawing is introduced to teach value. Students are able to choose from a variety of subject matter including animals, landscape &/or cartooning (including Disney or Anime) Towards the end of the course, students will be taught how to also render in pen & ink, with a micron pen, using both pointillism and cross-hatch techniques. They will also be able to choose their own subject matter.
Materials: Students will provide their own art supplies. All supplies needed for this course can be purchased at the 1st class. Materials: 2 - 1/4" thick charkole (brand name) sticks, 1 - HB and 1 - 4B artist's drawing pencils. 1 - charcoal pencil, 1 - black micron pen. 1- 11" x 14" spiral Strathmore (brand name) sketch book. approx. cost: $25. - $27.
