Portraits in Pastel starts with drawings in pencil of all views of the face, Fronatal, 3/4 view and profile in proper proportions. Students will then advance to a detailed portrait (of their choice) in pastel. In drawing in pastel, proper technique, plus color mixing will be emphasized.
Materials: Students will provide their own art supplies. A supply list will be provided at the first class of each workshop. Minimum supplies needed FOR ALL WORKSHOPS (except W/C and Chalk Media) are: 1 - HB fine art graphite pencil, 1 - kneaded eraser, 1 - Strathmore (brand name) 11" X 14" spiral bound sketch book, 1- box, 24 colors, chalk pastels, 1-2 sheets of Cason (brand name) pastel paper. Approx. cost: $14. Either purchase at 1st class (approx. price: $20.) or bring to 1st class. ALL supplies can be purchased at the first class, at the SAS. 10% discount.
Supplies: 1 - 18" x 24" Newsprint pad, 1 - 24 sticks soft chalk pastels, 1 kneaded eraser, 1 - 4B pencil and 1 sheet Cason, pastel paper, (approx. size: 19" x 26") All supplies can be purchased at the SAS, at the first class. 10% discount. (Aprox. cost: $27. - $30.) If a student wishes to incorporate ink, or colored pencil or charcoal, extra supplies will be needed and can also be purchased at the SAS.
Prerequisite: All students under 18 must have completed Fundamentals/Intermediate Drawing and Advanced Drawing OR be able to show a proficient portfolio, indicating your skill level is ready for these courses. There are no prerequisites for adult students.
