In learning to draw in pastel, proper technique plus color mixing is emphasized. For charcoal drawing the value scale will be incorporated to help the student understand the essence of their tool. (charcoal) Students will work in either chalk pastel or charcoal, rendering realistic images of their choice. (faces landscapes, animals, etc.).
Materials: Supplies: 1 - 18" x 24" Newsprint pad, 1 - 24 sticks soft chalk pastels, 1 kneaded eraser, 1 - 4B pencil and 1 sheet Cason, pastel paper, (approx. size: 19" x 26") All supplies can be purchased at the SAS, at the first class. 10% discount. (Aprox. cost: $27. - $30.)
Prerequisite: All students under 18 must have completed Fundamentals/Intermediate Drawing and Advanced Drawing OR be able to show a proficient portfolio, indicating your skill level is ready for these courses. There are no prerequisites for adult students.
